New Jewson warehouse set for approval

A proposed Mansfield warehouse to be used by builders’ merchant Jewson is set to be backed by the council after the application was deferred from a previous planning committee meeting.Saint-Gobain, a French multinational corporation which owns the business, is seeking the go-ahead from Mansfield District Council to build the new facility on Oxford Street.The site, which is operated by Jewson, currently houses one two-storey building and space for warehousing and parking of HGVs.The new building will allow the company to operate under two different sections of the business – Jewsons Supply Chain and Jewsons Building Merchants.It will be used solely by Jewson Supply Chain and consist of warehousing measuring approximately 36,000 sq ft.The application, which was deferred from a planning committee meeting on 2 August, will be reviewed on 31 August.The project has been recommended for approval, subject to conditions.
