New attraction for historic park moves forward
Plans to create a new leisure facility featuring a ropes activity and mini-golf course in a grade II-listed park near Reading look set to be approved.Prospect Park comprises the 18th century Prospect House, as well as a bowls green, sports pitches, tennis courts, a games area, a children’s play area and woodland.Under the plans lodged by Reading Borough Council, a disused garage on the east side of the park’s pavilion building would be transformed into new leisure space.The facility would include an indoor low ropes activity for children aged seven and under, a nine-hole mini golf course, a café, new toilets and an outdoor education area.The scheme has been recommended for approval ahead of the authority’s planning committee meeting next week (8 September 2021).Final approval is subject to a number of conditions.
