Plans for the development of a solar farm on an approximately 28-acre site to the north east of Wolverhampton city centre look set to be green lit.Arcadis has brought forward proposals on behalf of City of Wolverhampton Council for a solar farm which would produce an overall output of 6.9MWp of renewable energy per year. The proposed panels would provide energy for New Cross Hospital, enabled by plant and equipment to facilitate the transfer. The majority of the site, including the PV panels, small equipment housing units and two substations, would be set within a secure compound, enclosed by a green wire mesh fence.Approval is sought to install the panels for a 25-year period. The application will be reviewed by the council’s planning committee on 14 September. The plans have been recommended for approval, subject to conditions.
