Major mixed-use plans recommended for approval

Plans for the development of 550 homes and almost 20 acres of employment land have been recommended for approval ahead of a planning committee meeting next week.Barwood Development Securities Ltd has brought forward a hybrid planning application to redevelop approximately 78 acres of agricultural land at Thickthorn, Kenilworth.The full element of the application is for the construction of 98 homes to be served via two new vehicular/pedestrian/cycle access connections from Leamington Road.The outline element of the scheme includes a residential development of up to 452 homes, a one-form entry primary school, a community centre and a local centre consisting of commercial elements, including retail and hot food takeaway.Approximately 19.5 acres of employment land is also proposed.The application was initially intended to be reviewed by Warwick Council’s planning committee on 21 July. However, it was removed from the agenda to allow the concerns of Kenilworth Town Council to be further considered.
