Former Alder Hey Hospital scheme set to move forward

Plans for a mixed-use scheme on part of the former Alder Hey Hospital site in Liverpool look set to be backed.Step Places is behind the application for 248 homes, a food and drink premises, gym and crèche and an office block.The proposals were due to go before Liverpool City Council’s planning committee earlier this month but the meeting was cancelled.As part of the project at Springfield Gardens on Eaton Road, four development blocks of between three and five storeys in height will be built.The eastern part of the site was occupied by a complex of buildings which formerly formed the Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. The site is cleared. Of the housing, 208 will be a mix of apartments including for people with autism and of retirement age, whilst 40 will be dwelling houses. A report published ahead of a rearranged meeting on Tuesday, 28 September, recommended the development be approved subject to a legal agreement.
