Vinci seals £77m Bristol student accommodation job
Vinci Construction UK has confirmed the signing of a major student accommodation project in Bristol for the University of the West of England.Student Accommodation Project 3 at its Frenchay Campus is being hailed as one of the UK’s largest Passivhaus certified developments in the UK.SAP3 will span 280,000 sq ft and fit 900 bed-spaces in a mix of studios and four, six or eight-bed clusters.Once complete, the complex of buildings will operate at a 75% carbon reduction compared to traditional design and construction.The £77m project is due to start main construction in November and will be handed over prior to the beginning of the 2023/2024 academic year.SAP3 was designed by architect Stride Treglown and will run with reduced energy consumption compared to similar-sized traditional new builds.The project is the first phase of planned development that will deliver a total of over 2,250 new student beds on the Frenchay campus.Project TeamArchitect, Landscape, BIM and Interiors: Stride TreglownCost Consultant: Turner & TownsendProject Management: JLLCivil & Structural Engineer: CurtinsM&E Consultant: Amber Management & Engineering ServicesEnvironmental & Passivhaus Consultants: QODA ConsultingPassivhaus Certifier: Etude
