Revised 350 homes scheme set for green light
More than 350 homes are set to be built on 50 acres of land in Preston as planners were recommended to back the revised scheme. Bloor Homes and Taylor Wimpey are behind the outline application for the construction of up to 352 homes on land in Higher Bartle. The development has been amended with the number of houses being reduced from 500.Public open space, recreation facilities and the layout of roads, cycleways and footpaths, are also proposed as part of development. Also included is the construction of drainage infrastructure; hard and soft landscaping; and other associated works. The application seeks to create four new vehicular accesses to the site, two from Sandy Lane, one from Tabley Lane and one from the East-West Link Road.Separate pedestrian access points are also proposed from Tabley Lane and Sandy Lane, linking in with a public right of way which crosses the site. Whilst the application is in outline and layout is a reserved matter, an indicative masterplan has been provided which shows how the site could be set out. Residential development is proposed to the south of the site, north of the link road. About 12 acres of land is identified to be safeguarded for a secondary school in the north east of the site.Public open space is proposed both centrally and along the north west and northern boundaries, abutting the M55.Planning officials have now recommended permission for the scheme is granted subject to a section 106 obligation being secured.Preston City Council’s planning committee will meet on Thursday 4 November.
