II.1.4) Short Description: The Northern Ireland Precision Biomarkers and Therapeutics Consortium (NIPBT) is an industry-focused partnership of Life and Health Science (LHS) companies and Academia, aligned to NI Health and Economy strategies. By addressing critical commercial gaps, the Consortium’s aim is to transform the productivity of each Commercial Partner and the broader LHS sector in NI. NIPBT will deploy the grant funding to collaboratively develop Research and Development capabilities that industry partners require. Queen’s is leading the NIPBT and as such is tasked with procuring and overseeing the installation of two items of equipment to perform: (1) automated protein crystallization drop setting and (2) automated optimization of protein crystallization experiments. This equipment is to enhance our productivity in structural biology of proteins that is adaptable to the needs of various research groups. This equipment will be housed within the Health Sciences Building, Queen’s University Belfast.
