Three L’Derry Redevelopment Projects Secure Funding
Over £16 million has been awarded to support three key redevelopment projects in L’Derry.Investment was secured from the UK-wide Levelling Up Fund to support the Derry City and Strabane District Council projects.The Daisyfield Community Sports Hub Redevelopment, Derg Active Community Infrastructure Development and Acorn Farm St Columb’s Park Regeneration project won funding of £4.2m, £6.4m and £5.6m.Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced the investment as part of the UK government’s Autumn Budget, forming part of a total of £4.8 billion in Levelling Up Funding across the UK and £49m across Northern Ireland.Welcoming the funding, Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council Alderman Graham Warke said: “I am absolutely delighted that we have benefited from over £16m of funding for these three community and regeneration projects. It is excellent news for everyone involved in the application process and I want to congratulate everyone involved in bringing forward these project bids.”This is a really positive good news story for our Council area that will see a much needed cash injection to bring to fruition these exciting initiatives.”
