Detailed plans for housing on former factory
Detailed plans have been lodged for a development of more than 100 homes on the site of a former factory in South Yorkshire.Netherton Homes, supported by JRP, has submitted an application to Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council for development on the former William Freeman factory site off Wakefield Road.The reserved matters application seeks approval for a total of 102 homes, with a mix two-, three- and four-bedroom properties.The plans include affordable housing and new public open space.The site was formerly used by William Freeman for the manufacture of rubber and plastic products, prior to its closure in 2006. The former factory units having since been demolished.Outline planning permission for residential development on the site was granted in 2018.This scheme also include details for a new Lidl foodstore, which has now been built.
