Plans in for revised Reading development
Revised plans for a 223-home scheme in Reading have been revealed, with a new application submitted.Fairfax (Reading) and Reading Golf Club are behind the proposals, which concern the Emmer Green course. An outline application – which involved the demolition of the venue’s club house – was submitted in January 2021 but refused in August 2021. Amendments have now been made. These include a reduction in the number of properties on the site from 257 to 223, a “significant” drop in the number of apartments compared to houses, an increase in the quantum of open space and minor revisions to specific parts of the site layout, among other aspects.During the previous application, much was made by locals regarding the potential for a proposed health centre as part of the scheme to be a “white elephant”.The application is with Reading Council.
