Go-ahead for hundreds of Leicestershire homes
A major land promoter’s plans to build hundreds of homes on an agricultural site in Leicestershire have been backed by the council.Gladman Developments Ltd sought outline approval to build 228 properties on land off Barnards Drive in Sileby.Extending to approximately 28.5 acres, the application site comprises of two field parcels that are currently in agricultural use and separated by an existing hedgerow.A range of densities and house types are proposed, 30 per cent of which will be allocated as affordable housing.Gladman intends to provide about 11 acres of formal and informal open space, including a fully equipped children’s play area.The scheme has now been approved, subject to conditions.
