A proposed development of more than 230 homes on a site in North Yorkshire looks set to get the go-ahead later this week (9 December 2021).Barratt David Wilson Homes submitted a reserve matters application to Scarborough Borough Council last year for development on Phase 1 of a strategic site at Broomfield Farm in Whitby.Keyland Developments, the property trading arm of Kelda Group and sister company to Yorkshire Water, sold the site to Barratt David Wilson for an undisclosed sum earlier this year.Planning permission is sought for a development of 233 homes, together with access roads, parking facilities, landscaping, open space and associated works. The housing would include a range of one-, two-, three- and four bedroom properties, with 163 market properties and 70 affordable units. The application will go before the council’s planning committee on 9 December and is recommended for approval, subject to conditions, in an officer’s report prepared for the meeting. The full 24-acre Broomfield Farm site has planning consent for the development of up to 290 homes in total, and has the potential to support about 700 jobs.
