Green light for Peterlee housing scheme
Plans for a residential development of 59 homes in Peterlee have been backed by Durham County Council. The application, by Partner Construction and Believe Housing, was granted after it went before the planning committee on Tuesday 14 December. The development comprises 23 two-bed homes, 30 three-bed homes and six four-bed homes, including six bungalows to meet the needs of the local ageing community. The homes will be located on a longstanding derelict 4.65-acre brownfield site east of 1 to 25 Shinwell Drive. The report accompanying the application outlined how the development would provide economic benefits to the area, including construction jobs, as well as enhancing the choice of houses in Peterlee to meet local needs. It also said that it will be implementing a fabric first approach to reduce the development’s carbon footprint.
