Plans lodged for Sheffield logistics facility
Plans have been lodged for the construction of a major new logistics unit on a site in Sheffield.Trammell Crow Company Logistics (TCCL) has submitted an application to Sheffield City Council for the demolition of the former Betafence unit on Shepcote Lane and construction of a new facility.Full planning permission is sought for a new storage and distribution unit measuring about 380,000 sq ft.The new facility would also include ancillary reception and office space, as well as a service yard.It has been estimated that the proposed development could generate 458 direct full time equivalent (FTE) gross jobs. The proposed unit would be smaller than the 455,000 sq ft property that currently occupies the site. The existing unit was formerly occupied by Tinsley Wire and subsequently by Betafence but has been vacant since 2019.A design and access statement submitted as part of the application said: “The site currently comprises a manufacturing facility which was bespoke to the former occupier’s business operation and does not meet modern requirements.”The site provides a significant opportunity, reflective of its general industry area allocation within the adopted UDP proposals, to intensify the amount of employment development and deliver a modern facility which contributes positively to the local area and will help to regenerate a site which has become rundown and lacking in distinctiveness.”The project team includes CBRE, Chetwoods, WSP, Brooks Ecological, Synergy, Fore Consulting and Latitude Surveys.TAGSTrammell Crow Company Logistics / SUBSCRIBE TO OUR EMAIL NEWSLETTERS REGISTER NOW – IT’S FREE!SECTOR NEWSWardley House owner backs Bradford 2025 bidWardley House owner backs Bradford 2025 bid 21 Dec 2021 YorkshireFive brands sign up at Trinity LeedsFive brands sign up at Trinity Leeds 21 Dec 2021 YorkshireHarworth sells logistics development site for £11.6mHarworth sells logistics development site for £11.6m 21 Dec 2021 YorkshireNew South Yorkshire hub for facilities management firmNew South Yorkshire hub for facilities management firm 20 Dec 2021 YorkshireSPONSORED FINANCIAL CONTENTCONTACT USGot a news story for us?
