Green light set for Middlesborough leisure development
Plans to transform and ‘improve the vitality’ of a Middlesbrough shopping centre with a new bowling alley, indoor golf and electric go kart track look set to be green lit.An application by Lane 7 seeks permission to refurbish the vacant TJ Hughes store in Captain Cook Square to form a new leisure destination which would provide about 40 part and full time jobs.The proposal comprises a 55,660 sq ft development, with the bowling alley on the ground floor and indoor golf and go karting track on the first floor.The scheme forms part of a wider plan to re-define the retail area as more of a leisure destination.The plans are set to go before Middlesbrough Council on Friday 14 January with the recommendation for approval subject to conditions.
