Plans submitted for former auction mart development
Amended plans for a 64-home development at the former auction mart in Bellingham have been submitted.Maple Oak Living prepared plans with regards to the development, comprising 44 homes and 20 apartments. The proposal previously outlined plans for 60 homes. The 100 per cent affordable housing scheme is proposed on land at the former auction mart which has been disused for 13 years, and will include a mix of one-two-and-three bedroom homes along with bungalows.Maple Oak said that the development would support 60 direct construction jobs per year, and 70 indirect and induced jobs in the supply chain throughout the build period, which is planned to take place over two stages. The site has long been subject to interest with outline permission approved in 2005 for a residential development, and a further application for a 65-home scheme on the land granted in 2008, however due to a number of factors none of these permissions were ever formally implemented.
