300-home development plans for Blackburn
More than 300 homes could be built on a site in Blackburn if newly submitted plans get the green light.Keepmoat Homes has submitted a full planning application to Blackburn with Darwen Council for a development on land bounded by Haslingden Road and Fishmoor Reservoir.The 14-acre site is located near to Royal Blackburn Hospital and is bordered by existing residential properties.Planning permission is sought for a development of 210 homes on the site. Of these 160 will be houses 50 apartments in two blocks together with access roads and landscape treatment. Homes will be aimed at keyworkers from the hospital and will be private ownershipOutline plans, under phase two, also seek permission to build 100 apartments in four blocks with all matters reserved except for access. The application states contributions and a section 106 agreement will be made. The contributions relate to highway and education. They will assist in the completion of the South East Blackburn highway improvement works and sustainable transport initiatives including subsidised public transport and improved cycling and pedestrian routes. Also, they will assist ?in the provision of additional primary school places in Blackburn South.
