Waste company Geminor has appointed contractor Keltbray to build a £6m waste processing plant at Hull. The plant is intended to use the city council’s waste to produce low-carbon refuse-derived fuel (RDF) and to strip out plastic. It will be located close to the Energy Works (Hull) energy plant, and will provide RDF to this and other nearby energy-from-waste facilities, with the option to export RDF to European EFWs for contingency purposes.Keltbray will carry out earthworks, drainage and levelling before construction of the 3,800sq m portal frame and clad processing facility. The completed facility will comprise a steel framed and clad reception and screening building, with piled foundations and concrete floor slab, supported by piles, insulated cladding and liner systems to external walls and roof. Concrete and block walls will form internal storage areas used for managing feedstock.
