Approval set for new homes as part of landmark regeneration plans
Plans for the construction of hundreds of homes in Birmingham as part of a landmark regeneration project have been recommended for approval ahead of a planning committee meeting next week.St Modwen is seeking outline approval from Birmingham City Council to build 350 homes on land at West Longbridge. The West Longbridge site formed part of the wider MG Rover car plant which closed in 2005.Once finished, the £1bn transformation of the entire former car plant is expected to have created up to 4,000 homes, two million sq ft of commercial development and 10,000 jobs. The outline plans comprise a mix of one- and two-bed flats, as well as two-, three- and four-bed houses, 20 per cent of which would be allocated as affordable.
