Taylor Wimpey secures detailed planning consent for Hamilton development
TAYLOR Wimpey West Scotland has secured an approval of matters specified in conditions planning consent for the build of 203 new homes on land off Meikle Earnock Road in Hamilton.Planning permission in principle has already been secured in principle for the development, with it offering a mix of two and three bedroom terraced and semi-detached properties, as well as four and five bedroom detached homes. The design of the development will follow the agreed design principles already set out in plans which will see upgrades to Meikle Earnock Road – including continuation of the bus route and a new footpath network allowing access to the adjacent woodland and open space.Further to this, the firm said the development will also benefit from the delivery of ‘key’ infrastructure as part of the masterplan vision for the area such as further upgrades to Meikle Earnock Road, and there are play areas provided within other parcels of the masterplan development. Meanwhile, the housebuilder has also announced the launch of a public consultation ahead of its submission of a planning application to South Lanarkshire Council to provide a residential development on land at the former Larkhall Academy. The development would see the delivery of around 200 two, three and four-bedroom homes – of which, the firm said 25% would be affordable with the breakdown of accommodation subject to discussions with the local authority. The proposal also includes plans for associated roads, footpaths and the transport infrastructure required to support a development of this nature, as well as landscaping, children’s play equipment and ancillary engineering works associated with residential development.Ahead of the application, the project design team will host an online public consultation event on Friday 25 February 2022 between 3.00pm-7.00pm.
