Revised plans in for North Yorkshire housing development
Revised plans have been lodged for a development of almost 200 homes on a site in North Yorkshire following an earlier refusal.Housebuilder Persimmon, supported by PB Planning and JRP, has submitted a full planning application to Harrogate Borough Council for a residential development on a site to the north of Kingsley Drive.Planning permission is sought for 181 new homes, as well as open space, landscaping and associated infrastructure.A planning application was previously submitted in 2019 for a development of 244 homes on the site. This scheme was subsequently reduced in size to 217 homes, but was refused permission at a meeting of the council’s planning committee in August 2021.Reasons given for refusal were the scale and layout of the proposed development, concerns over flooding, and a lack of information regarding noise, energy and biodiversity. The reduction in the number of homes proposed is set to enable a significant increase in areas of public open space and greenspace. A number of variations to the proposed house types have also been introduced. The development will also comprise 40 per cent affordable housing provision, with 72 units in total. It has been estimated that the development would generate a £22m construction investment for Harrogate and the wider Borough area over a five-year build period, and support the creation of about 129 jobs.
