Ambitious redevelopment plans to be drawn up for city hospital site

Major proposals will be showcased for Hull Royal Infirmary, as Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust seeks to develop new healthcare facilities as part of wider plans to improve the surrounding area.The trust has partnered with Hull City Council to seek people’s views on the scheme.Plans are being drawn up for the development of new, purpose-built patient wards that will replace the outdated wards in the Hull Royal Infirmary tower block.Proposals also involve re-purposing some of the vacated space in the tower block for non-clinical use. The trust has submitted an application for a significant allocation of capital funding to enable these developments to go ahead.It says the programme could open up opportunities for new developments on the current Argyle Street car park, such as housing for hospital staff or a multi-storey car park.The trust is working with the council to prepare a masterplan that looks to the future of this part of Anlaby Road and ensures development happens in a planned and co-ordinated way. The masterplan will then be used in support of funding bids to central government and for submission of planning applications.The plans will be on display at an exhibition on Friday 1 and Saturday 2 April from 10am to 4pm at the Trinity Market in Hull city centre.
