Detailed plans for a new office building as part of the redevelopment of the Tetley Brewery site in Leeds’ South Bank have been given the green light.Developer Vastint UK submitted a reserved matters application to Leeds City Council last year for Plot MU4 at Aire Park. The plans cover the construction of a seven-storey building with offices on the upper floors and flexible commercial uses on the ground floor. In total, the proposed building would provide about 121,000 sq ft of space, of which about 114,000 sq ft would be offices. The council has now granted planning permission for the development, subject to conditions, under delegated powers. The project team comprises Cartwright Pickard (architect), Barton Willmore (planner), Curtins (civil and structural engineer), Futureserv (services engineer), Planit (landscape architects), Stantec (transport consultant), Design Fire (fire consultant), Buro Happold (wind consultant) and Hoare Lea (acoustic consultant and BREEAM consultant).Outline planning permission was granted in 2018 for the redevelopment of the wider Tetley Brewery site. The scheme is set to comprise 850 homes, 915,000 sq ft of space for offices, and 161,500 sq ft of space for shops, restaurants, bars and takeaways, as well as accommodation for financial and professional service providers.Work started earlier this month (March 2022) on new city park as part of the development.
