Swansea housing scheme set for approval
Plans for a housing development on land in the Sketty Park area of Swansea are set to move forward after being recommended for approval.Acting on behalf of Westacres, Asbri Planning is seeking permission for up to 101 houses on playing fields which were formerly part of Olchfa School.A variety of house types are envisaged with the aim of ensuring a sustainable and balanced community. The proposed homes will be oriented along a new estate road. The application follows a previous decision by Swansea Council’s Cabinet decision which resolved that the land be declared as surplus to requirements, subject to the provision of an artificial games surface being funded from the proceeds of the sale.Despite opposition to the plans, a report to be scrutinised by Swansea councillors next week has recommended the application is approved, subject to conditions.Other professionals working on the scheme include Powell Dobson Architects, Catherine Etchell and Smart Associates
