Amended plans have been revealed for a previously approved North Tyneside housing development which looks to bring 300 homes to the area.An application by Northumberland Estates for 310 new homes on land adjacent to Rake House Farm in North Shields were backed by the council in November 2021.The development, which includes affordable housing, forms part of the wider Murton Gap masterplan which looks to create about 3,000 homes together with education facilities, local services and green infrastructure. The Rake House Farm site is located within the South East part of the plan, and covers an area of approximately 15.9 hectares of predominantly agricultural land.Since its backing by the council, work has yet to commence on the development and changes to the scheme have now been revealed. The amendments include a reduction in housing numbers from 310 to 300 as well as changed to the proposed housing and internal road layout. The application said that the minor changes will result in more ecology corridor space and public open space per home than originally improved.A request on behalf of Story Homes, which will bring forward the development, has now been submitted to determine whether the production of an environmental impact statement is required for the new plans.
