Green light recommended for golf course hotel plans
Plans for a new hotel at a golf course and leisure venue on the East Yorkshire coast look set to get the go-ahead next week (28 April 2022).Bridlington Links Golf and Leisure Estate Ltd, part of the Pure Leisure Group, submitted an application to East Riding of Yorkshire Council in 2020 for development at the estate, located on the coast between Bridlington and Flamborough.Outline planning permission is sought for the construction of an 84-bedroom hotel set over two floors, with total floorspace of about 34,300 sq ft.A car park comprising 95 spaces would also be provided. The proposed hotel would provide overnight accommodation for weekend golfing breaks and holidays, people attending weddings and social events at the clubhouse, together with offering a venue for golf societies and corporate events. It is designed to provide a different type of holiday accommodation to the existing privately owned lodges at the course. The hotel would also help support the future financial viability of the wider site. The project team includes De Pol Associates, MCK Associates, SCP, FPCR, Orion Heritage and Graham Schofield Associates. The application will be considered by the council’s Planning committee on 28 April and is recommended for approval, subject to the signing of a Section 106 agreement, in an officer’s report prepared for the meeting. The site was formerly the location of a farmhouse and outbuildings known as Danes Dyke Farm, a grade II listed building that was demolished about ten years ago.
