Job-creating commercial project closes in on green light
Plans for a major commercial project expected to create hundreds of jobs in Tipton could soon be approved after being deferred from two previous planning committee meetings.Coneygre Redevelopments Ltd is seeking the go-ahead to develop a site on Newcomen Drive.The plot comprises approximately 17.3 acres of open land located immediately to the east of the existing Coneygre Industrial Estate.Plans comprise the construction of five industrial units totalling 230,000 sq ft, which would be accompanied by 270 car parking spaces, including 14 electric vehicle charging points.Each unit would be provided with an independent concrete service yard, with all of them able to accommodate an HGV turning circle.It is anticipated that the project would create in the region of 450 FTE jobs.The scheme went before Sandwell’s planning committee on 15 February and 9 March but was deferred on both occasions.Plans will now be reviewed on 9 May.Approval has been recommended.
