Green light for Salford student schemes
Two projects which will provide homes for hundreds of students in Salford have been approved.The first application related to land at Stervon House, North of Broughton Road East and East of Seaford RoadApplicant Team Quest International is seeking to demolish buildings on the site and erect a part five, part six-storey building housing 148 student residential clusters comprising 412 beds.A commercial unit is included at the ground floor, along with the incorporation of external terraces, construction of a new access road from Broughton Road East, public realm, landscaping, car parking and other associated worksThe application, which was brought forward by Lichfield and drawn up by AHR, was approved despite some councillors expressing reservations about the functional design.A second application concerned land at Frederick Road and Cheltenham Street.Property business X1 sought permission to demolish buildings on the site and erect a ten to 15 storey building providing 353 student studios. Ancillary amenity spaces and associated access, bin stores, substation, servicing and cycle storage, are also included. The application was approved by five votes to three.
