The proposed Whitehall Riverside development in Leeds has taken a further step forward with plans lodged for office buildings, an aparthotel and a multi-storey car park as part of the scheme.Leeds-based property investor and car parking operator Town Centre Securities (TCS) entered into a joint venture with Glenbrook earlier this year to bring forward the Whitehall Riverside scheme.Glenbrook recently submitted plans for the residential element of the scheme, comprising two blocks of 15 and 18 storeys, with a total of 500 apartments, and commercial space at ground floor level.Detailed plans have now come forward for TCS’ element of the scheme. The hybrid application seeks full planning permission for a 12-storey office building, with ground floor retail, and a 14-storey car park providing 478 spaces.Outline approval is also sought for a 14-storey office building and an eight-storey building suitable for a hotel, aparthotel and office use.Craig Burrow, development director at Town Centre Securities, said: “The new Whitehall Riverside masterplan has been designed for the demand of today, but with flexibility in mind to adapt to the changing requirements of workspace, residential, electric vehicles and the visitor economy.”It will further enhance previously delivered phases and create a truly mixed-use scheme and neighbourhood for generations to live, work and play. With connectivity and sustainability at the forefront of the design, the next phase will activate the unique stretch of riverside frontage with high quality landscaping and public realm throughout.”The project team includes Enjoy Design (architect), ID Planning (planning consultant), Re-form (landscape architect), CSD (MEP) Consultant, Optima (highways/traffic consultant), BB7 (fire engineer), Curtins (structural engineer), Oxford Archaeology, Brooks Ecological, RBA (project manager and quantity surveyor) and GIA (wind consultant).TCS has owned the site for a number of years and has worked closely with Leeds City Council over the years to bring forward the initial phases of No.1 Whitehall Riverside (offices), Whitehall Waterfront(residential) and most recently the Premier Inn (hotel) which was completed in 2017.
