Plans have been submitted for a major mixed-used project aiming to provide hundreds of homes and new commercial space on approximately 140 acres of land in Worcestershire.Homes England is seeking outline approval develop three parcels of land at Lea Castle, Kidderminster. The site, located to the north, west and east of the former Lea Castle Hospital, comprises arable fields.The project involves the creation of up to 800 homes, a mixed-use village centre, an extra care facility and a 420-place primary school.Additionally, the scheme would provide about 17.2 acres of employment land in a mix of use classes.A statement lodged on behalf of the applicant said: “The scheme will contribute to building a strong local economy by providing a range of new housing on the edge of Kidderminster close to main services and facilities within the town centre.”The scheme will also provide a range of facilities on the site to benefit new residents and the wider community. Jobs will also be created at the both the construction and operational stages of the development, including jobs associated with the retail, school, extra care and employment areas.””The proposals are deliverable and the site is available for development and has the advantage of having a single landowner, Homes England.”
