Flats plan at former Prestwick hotel withdrawn
Plans to build 20 new flats on the site of the former Parkstone Hotel in Prestwick have been withdrawn. The land at Ardayre Road had been proposed for housing with 20 new flats, parking, landscaping and associated works in the pipeline. However, according to South Ayrshire Council’s online planning portal, the plans have been scrapped with no reason given for the withdrawal. Now question marks hang over the long-term future of the vacant site.In June 2020, plans were submitted to demolish the hotel and build a care home in its place, but this application was since rejected. The historic 30-bedroom Parkstone, on the esplanade, had operated for more than 80 years, hosting countless weddings, functions, celebrations and meetings.
