Stoke site earmarked for 140 homes
Undeveloped land in Stoke-on-Trent has been earmarked for the construction of 140 homes.Redrow Homes and Anwyl Land have lodged plans to transform an approximately 15.8-acre site north of Leek New Road, Baddeley Green.A range of one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom houses would be provided, 25 per cent of which to be allocated as affordable. The tenure split is to be agreed with the council; however, it is envisaged that the affordable properties will be a mix of social rent, shared ownership and first homes.A statement submitted to Stoke-on-Trent City Council on behalf of the applicants said the scheme “will deliver new aspirational homes in an accessible area, thus helping to boost housing supply in a sustainable location” and boost “investment and additional expenditure in the local area”.It added: “The only disbenefit of the scheme is that it would result in the development of a predominantly undeveloped site. However, in the context that the scheme is compliant with the development plan, this does not significantly or demonstrably outweigh the benefits arising from the development.”
