Former Warrington vicarage set for housing
A former vicarage in Warrington could soon be demolished to make way for flats with plans due to be approved at a meeting later this week.Alderley Holdings Ltd wants to build a six-storey residential block comprising of 23 units at the Holy Trinity Vicarage on Palmyra Square. This would be made up of 17 one-bed and six two-bedroom flats. The proposal is for all of the properties to be for affordable housing on a rent-to-buy basis. The site is currently occupied by a two-storey, detached building known as The Vicarage. This building is currently vacant and boarded.A report prepared for Warrington Borough Council’s development management committee recommends approving the application subject to condition and a s106 planning obligation.”The application proposes the redevelopment of the site for residential use which is appropriate within the town centre location and makes efficient use of the site,” the report added. “It will make a positive contribution to the delivery of new homes in the borough, all of which will be considered to meet the definition of affordable housing.”
