Green light for new Chelmsford station
Chelmsford City Council has given the green light for the development of Beaulieu Park station, following its public consultation.Part of a wider development of the Beaulieu Park estate, which will have up to 14,000 new homes, the station will sit between Chelmsford and Hatfield Peverel on the Great Eastern Mainline. This will make it the first new station to be added to the route in over a century, providing locals with train services that reach London Liverpool Street in 40 minutes.The development will be funded by £218M secured by Essex County Council in conjunction with Chelmsford City Council from the government’s Housing and Infrastructure fund. There is an additional £34M in contributions coming from South East Local Enterprise Partnership and developer Countryside Zest.The plans for the station were drawn up by Murphy, and feature:Construction could begin later this year and it is expected to be complete in 2026.
