Energy-efficient apartment development gets underway in Greater Manchester

The development of an eight-storey apartment block in Greater Manchester has gotten underway, the completion of which will see the delivery of 63 energy-efficient social housing apartments.The Guinness Partnership has appointed Caddick Construction’s North West team to deliver the scheme, which is located on Kiwi Street, Salford.The development will see 47 one-bedroomed and 16 two-bedroomed energy-efficient homes delivered, with car and cycle parking, on an 0.8-acre Cherry Tree Court site, where the former tower block was recently demolished.There will also be a communal garden, as laid out in the landscaping proposals.Peter Carroll, project manager at Caddick Construction, said: “We are looking forward to using the team’s extensive experience to deliver this energy efficient apartment scheme at Kiwi Street.“This exciting project will replace a former 1960s tower block with a far more sustainable, attractive, and high-quality development.”Jobs, work placements, and training and development opportunities will be delivered as part of the scheme.Angela Garrard, director of Development (North) at The Guinness Partnership, said: “We’re pleased to be working with Caddick Construction on the redevelopment of our site in Salford.“Now demolition of the former tower block is complete, we look forward to commencing this build which will provide much-needed high-quality homes for social rent to the area.”The development is set to complete in early 2024.
