A defence authority has invited a tender for 200 hazardous duty life jackets.
The jacket will be used where armed forces personnel need a low profile unobtrusive automatically inflated life jacket for jobs such as ship maintenance, boarding ops, seamanship evolutions or high speed boat operations where a fall could render the wearer unconscious and unable to activate the life jacket manually.
The hazardous duty life jacket should have twin buoyancy stole in a halter neck style valise fitted with oral inflation tubes and a whistle and inflation mechanism with a manual override facility.
The webbing waist belt should incorporate a helicopter lifting loop and a reliable and well proven buckle closure.
It is to be made entirely from highly, durable proofed synthetic materials.
