Green light lined up for Reading solar farm
Approval has been recommended for plans to build a solar farm in Reading.The application concerns land to the north of Bloomfield Hatch Farm, covering a 75-acre area.Proposed is the installation of a ground mounted Photo Voltaic (PV) solar development, with permission sought for 30 years and a further six months to allow for decommissioning and reinstatement.The installation would have the design capacity for approximately 25.77MWp of electricity generation.A report drawn up ahead of West Berkshire Council’s planning committee meeting on 24 August said: “There is strong social and environment support for the provision of renewable energy in tackling climate change and dealing with the climate crisis.”Overall, it is considered that there are substantial benefits to the proposed development that weigh in favour of granting planning permission.”
