Drive-thru restaurant plans approved
Plans for a job-creating drive-thru restaurant in West Yorkshire have been given the go-ahead.Property consultancy JLL has worked with Euro Garages to secure planning permission for the development of one of the first drive-thru LEON restaurants in the north of England. The proposed development covers 2,368 sq ft of land just east of the A650 in Snowhill, Wakefield, and is expected to create 17 jobs.Neighbouring Snowhill Retail Park, the site sits just next to a recently constructed petrol filling station and drive-thru coffee shop. Plans also include an additional 17 parking spaces with a one-way system in place throughout.Yvette Black, senior planner, planning and development at JLL North, said: “It took perseverance to get the green light for this scheme, but we’re really pleased to have secured a great opportunity for Euro Garages and for the local community in Wakefield.”Drive-thru retail can act as a gateway, encouraging more consumers to visit an area and in turn contribute further to the regional economy and providing other social benefits to the local community as well.”Nathan Tonge, senior planner at Euro Garages, added: “It is thanks to the hard work of the team at JLL that we now have consent for this site, which is a major step towards providing jobs, as well as a healthy fast-food option to the area. We are looking forward to getting underway with the development and can’t wait to welcome our first customers.”
