Lincoln apartment project nears approval
The proposed redevelopment of a former commercial site in Lincoln to provide almost 50 apartments could soon be approved.Faber Architecture is seeking the go-ahead on behalf of a private client to transform land on Dunford Road. The site is home to a two-storey building formerly occupied by Carpets 4 Less. The structure, which has stood vacant for a number of years, would be demolished as part of the scheme.Plans involve the construction of a part four- part five-storey block containing 47 apartments and two ground floor retails units. The residences, split between one and two bedrooms, would be accompanied by car, motorcycle and bicycle parking.Lincoln City Council’s planning committee will review the application on 5 October.A report for the committee said: “The principle of the use of the site for residential with ground floor commercial is considered to be acceptable and the development would relate well to the site and surroundings in respect of siting, height, scale, massing and design.”The proposals would also not cause undue harm to the amenities which occupiers of neighbouring properties may reasonably expect to enjoy.”
