Up to 175 homes set to advance
Up to 175 homes could be built on the site of a Leicestershire farm if plans are approved at committee next week.Barwood Development Securities Ltd is seeking outline approval to develop land to the southwest of Ratcliffe Road in Sileby.Extending to approximately 19.6 acres, the application site comprises undeveloped agricultural land forming part of Peashill Farm.It is intended that 30 per cent of the proposed homes be allocated as affordable, with an indicative plan also showing a play area to the north west. The application will be considered by Charnwood Borough Council’s plans committee on 20 October.A report for the committee said: “It is considered that there are no impacts of the development of this site that cannot be mitigated and that would be so significant and demonstrably harmful as to outweigh the benefits of providing the required housing land in a sustainable location.”The benefits relate to the contribution of the proposal to the council’s housing land supply deficit and deliverability, sustainable location, affordable housing, community and other infrastructure provision, etc.”The application should therefore be supported, subject to appropriate conditions.”
