Sovereign consults residents on future of former East Hanney depot
Local people have been invited to have their say on plans for the redevelopment of Sovereign Housing Association’s former depot and office in Oxford Road, East Hanney. The site is predominantly surrounded by housing on two boundaries and partly surrounded on a third, which Sovereign says makes it suitable to be redeveloped and transformed into affordable housing.Proposals are to deliver 11 two and three-bedroom houses for shared ownership and affordable rent.Steve Trenwith, Land and Planning director at Sovereign, said: “Our plans will transform what is currently a disused depot and office building into 11 quality homes.“If taken forward, our proposals will deliver modern and spacious two and three-bedroom homes in East Hanney.”Sovereign says it is keen to hear from interested parties and the wider community, and that feedback from the consultation will help to influence the design proposals as they move forward. The consultation period will provide local residents, business, and stakeholders with the opportunity to view the proposals and meet with members of the project team.Sovereign is also consulting locals in Basingstoke on the future of its former office on land at Sarum Hill. The provider’s current plans are to demolish the outdated 1970s office building and repurpose it with a residential development. The consultation period for these plans ends on 21 November.
