Plans to build a solar farm in Buckinghamshire are set to go back before committee after being deferred last month.Low Carbon UK Solar Investment Company is behind the application, which concerns a site on Owlswick Road.Proposed is a solar farm – with all associated equipment – with a generating capacity of up to 49.9MW for a period of 40 years. The plans follow a previous application for a solar farm at the same site, which was refused in December 2021.This latest venture seeks to address the previous reasons for refusal by providing a more efficient subsidy-free solar farm on a smaller area.A report drawn up ahead of Buckinghamshire Council’s planning committee meeting on 26 October said: “The proposal would provide a source of renewable energy which would contribute towards energy security, meeting the targets set out in the Climate Change Act 2008 and the commitment towards Net Zero Carbon by Buckinghamshire Council, to which significant weight is given in favour of the application.”The proposal would cause harm of moderate significance to the visual amenity and landscape quality of the area.”A decision was deferred at that meeting following a representation received from an interested party relating to the absence of a Breeding Bird report. This was formally submitted by the applicant, with the proposals now heading back before the committee on 23 November.
