Approval lined up for hundreds of homes
Plans for the development of hundreds of homes on agricultural land in Lincolnshire, which form part of the first phase of a wider project, have been recommended for approval ahead of a planning committee meeting next week.Ashwood Homes has brought forward hybrid proposals for land at Yews Farm in Spalding.Extending to approximately 40.2 acres, the application site forms part of the Vernatts Sustainable Urban Extension (SUE), which aims to provide thousands of homes.Ashwood is now seeking full planning permission to build 100 two- to four-bedroom properties, while the outline element of the scheme comprises a further 300.A statement filed with South Holland District Council on behalf of the applicant said: “The housing element of the proposal will be predominantly two-storey family homes, which are characteristic of the prevailing built form and character within the immediate vicinity and of much of the new-build in and around Spalding over the last few years.”The council’s planning committee will review the application on 8 February.A report for the committee said: “The principle of residential development has already been established by virtue of the housing allocation in the Local Plan.”It is not considered that the proposal would materially harm the amenity of nearby residents, and flood risk and drainage matters are considered to have been appropriately addressed.”
