Link Group considers Oban development site
ACHA unveiled plans in January 2020 to deliver new affordable homes in the Glencruitten area after a development masterplan was approved by Argyll and Bute Council.The local authority’s planning committee gave the green light to a masterplan for a development area on land north west of Glencruitten Rise.A Link spokesperson confirmed with The Oban Times it was now “considering acquiring a site at Glencruitten, which has capacity for circa 100 new homes”.The spokesperson said: “The proposals are at a very early stage and we are working with the developer to determine viability at this point The site was given masterplan approval before our involvement and is included in Argyll and Bute Council’s Strategic Affordable Housing Programme, but a planning application has yet to be submitted and is unlikely to be submitted for several months at the very earliest.”A spokesperson for ACHA said: “Having appraised the proposed development programme, ACHA’s board of management made the decision to prioritise other sites in the programme over this one.”
