Approval recommended for Conservative Club scheme
Plans for the redevelopment of a former Conservative Club site in Rhondda look set to be backed. The application from Mitchell Property Solutions concerns a vacant parcel of land on Berw Road, Tonypandy. The site once accommodated the Tonypandy Conservative Club, although it is understood that this was demolished in 2003.It has been vacant and overgrown ever since. Now it is proposed to redevelop the plot to provide ten flats, car parking and associated works. It is proposed to construct a single building containing the affordable flats for a social housing provider. Of the flats, eight would be one-bedroom and the other two would contain two bedrooms each.An officer’s report said the flats would provide “much-needed affordable homes in a sustainable location”.The application is set to go before Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s planning and development committee on 8 June, with a recommendation to grant permission subject to conditions and a section 106 agreement.
