Plans revealed for Construction Skills Centre in Nottingham
Plans have been revealed to build a new Construction Skills Centre in Nottingham.Nottingham College is behind the scheme, which it wants to build at 664 Nuthall Road just outside the city centre, on its Basford Campus, to meet the demand for construction trades training – especially in post-16 learners. The 16,000 sq ft building would include a construction trades workshop, three classrooms and smaller workshop space. The college says that the new Skills Centre would train around 60 learners at any one time.Nottinham College says there has been high demand for construction courses over recent years, placing pressure of its existing construction skills workshops on the Basford Campus. External marquees have been used, but these uninsulated spaces lack facilities for teaching theory as well as changing rooms and toilets. The building is being designed by Bond Bryan.Nottingham College has ten sites in and around Nottingham, including a city hub which was opened in 2021.
