Plans have been submitted for the next phase of Pendleton’s regeneration. The proposals, put forward by SP+ and LOVELL TOGETHER, a joint venture between Lovell Partnerships and Together Housing Group, are for the creation of 471 homes. Also proposed is major regeneration work to Clarendon Park, including additional tree and vegetation planting, rain gardens, wetlands as well as the provision of two play areas, new play equipment, a multi-use games area and skatepark. New and enhanced pedestrian and cycle routes and an allotment for community use is also envisaged. The development includes one and two-bed apartments, alongside two, three and four-bed homes, as well as properties designated to accommodate older people.Of the dwellings put forward, 30 per cent will be affordable homes for rent and shared ownership and all would be highly energy efficient, low carbon houses.Tahreen Shad, regional partnerships director at Lovell, said: “The submission of this application is a key milestone in the ongoing regeneration of Pendleton and is a testament to years of hard work by SP+, Lovell Partnerships, the council, and project team to deliver the best for Pendleton.”Mark Dunford, board director at SP+, added: “SP+ now has extensive experience of managing properties across the Pendleton estate, delivering an inclusive landscape with high levels of sustainable, affordable housing. After being involved in this site for over a decade, we’re pleased that the next two phases have taken another step forward with the submission of planning.”For the latest phase, Stantec – previously Barton Willmore – has developed the masterplan and has been commissioned to provide planning, architecture, and landscape architecture services. Also advising SP+ and Lovell Together on the project is Eddisons, Strategic Sports Consultancy and Amenity Tree. The next phase will go towards the project’s aim of creating more than 2,000 new and refurbished properties in Pendleton.Known as Spinners Quarter, the second phase is currently being brought forward by Lovell Together and will see 127 energy efficient and affordable homes built.
