Step forward for Oxford Technology Park development
Plans for the final phase of development at Oxford Technology Park – with 182,000 sq ft of space proposed – have taken an important step forward.Outline planning permission was granted for the wider development in October 2016, with reserved matters green lit for units one and three a year later.A hotel development was subsequently approved in July 2018, which has been constructed and is operated by Premier Inn.Further approvals have since been granted and largely constructed.Plans were submitted in March 2023 for the “final phase of development” at Oxford Technology Park, which will comprise four buildings – eight, nine, ten and eleven.Units eight and nine would be dividable into two units, with all four having a footprint of 182,000 sq ft.There will also be 268 parking spaces to serve the units, of which 69 will be EV spaces and 23 will be accessible. In addition, there will be 160 cycle parking spaces.A report drawn up ahead of Cherwell District Council’s planning committee meeting noted that there would be “significant economic benefits from construction, employment and wider economic investment, and the improvement and completion of the development in terms of high-quality employment”.”The creation of jobs also creates a social benefit,” it added. The application had been recommended for approval, with the scheme having now been backed.
