Plans submitted for 44 new homes in RattrayThe proposal lays out plans for eight houses, as well as 36 flats across five blocks, on land 60 metres east of the Scotmid on Hatton Road.A design statement, submitted on behalf of the applicant by Yeoman Mcallister Architects, reads: “There are some existing houses which back onto the site along Glenalmond Road and existing three-storey flats on Glenshee Drive, which enclose the site to the south. There is also an existing footpath which runs along the southern edge.“The remainder of the site is surrounded by roads or residential development. It has previously been subject to planning approval for 42 units on the site and has a site area of around 0.7ha.”The design statement added: “The site is shown within the settlement boundary for Blairgowrie and Rattray and shown as white land. This is land which has no specific allocation or designation. Housing is considered to be an appropriate and acceptable use for this type of site.”“the latest design adopts a very similar approach to the previously-approved proposals in terms of layout but with improved building designs which are more contemporary and in keeping with current guidance on planning and sustainability.“The new houses and flats will be a mix of one, two, three and four-storey to tie in with the existing character of the northern edge of the town.”It continues: “This is also in line with the previous planning permission. The higher density housing has been focused in the area next to the existing three and four-storey flats.”However, the proposals have received objections from the Blairgowrie and Rattray Community Council (BRCC) about the climate emergency and biodiversity.
